Icons & Symbols Mosaic Course

In this workshop, we’ll be selecting an icon or symbol that has special meaning to you. Symbols are everywhere around us - they’re a form of visual shorthand where a shape or form suggests something beyond itself. Jane’s favourite symbol to mosaic is the Coptic cross. Some people see the cross as a religious symbol but she sees it as a personal symbol of resilience.

You will choose your own symbol - perhaps it’s a national symbol like a flag, a symbol of luck like a four leaf clover or something spiritual like the yin/yan symbol. The design can be (and should be) simple.

In our workshop, you will be introduced to all things mosaic. Jane uses traditional mosaic tools, materials and cutting techniques and you’ll be guided in how to use these. We will also spend time preparing, simplifying and drawing your design before commencing the mosaic.

At the end of the course you will take home a mosaic that holds special significance for you.
