Behind the Scenes at our Candle-making Workshops
Our recent “Refill Your Candles” workshops brought together small groups of friends who were keen to transform their used vessels into custom-made candles. Participants arrived with bundles of potential candle vessels (old jam jars and sea shells), and Jane selected the ones that would work best as candles. Some candles were planned as Christmas gifts, some as table decorations in the lead-up to Christmas, while others were to be used in special places around the home.
This year, we had a wide choice of decorative embellishments, such as semi precious gems, and different colour dyes. I loved seeing everyone experimenting with this additional layer of choice that gave the candles a unique look! We also decided to hold the workshops in the pottery barn and everyone seemed to enjoy the relaxed rustic ambiance of the character-filled wood and rock walls.
Many thanks to those who signed up! It was great meeting new people and welcoming back those who have previously attended the workshop.
About the Refill Your Candles Workshop:
In these fun 2.5 hour workshops, we step into the shoes of a perfumer to create our own fragrances. With a wide selection of scents to choose from, everyone has the chance to blend and create fragrances to suit their taste. We also experiment with colour dye chips, multiple wicking and decorative additions like coffee beans, semi-precious gemstones and rose flower petals.
An emphasis on recycling is the thing that sets this workshop apart. Students are encouraged to bring along used candle jars and vessels from their homes, or to explore local op shops for vintage pieces that make interesting candle holders. It’s so beautiful to see the variety of candles! We also have a range of Greg’s handmade cups made from recycled clay if anyone wants to purchase a vessel on the day.
Please contact Jane (tel. 0434640089) if you wish to arrange a special private workshop with a minimum of six friends to celebrate birthdays, get-togethers and team-building days.
