Rachel & Steven’s Micro Wedding

What do you do when your plans for a French chateau wedding derail due to Covid-19? As Rachel and Steven’s proposed wedding day passed with little hope of Australia’s borders opening in the near future, they began searching for an intimate wedding venue closer to home. Here’s Rachel’s story:

Bride Prepares On Her Wedding Day

I am so happy to share our story with you. Steven and I have been together for 9 years and we’ve travelled far and wide. After a long engagement due to two attempted and cancelled weddings with Covid, we decided to plan a small wedding ceremony close to our home. Filled with excitement, we began researching venues and came across Villa Rustica in the Byron hinterland. From the moment I found the venue, I was hooked!

We visited on a sunny Sunday afternoon and were greeted by Jane, Raffa and Roger (the dachshunds). I clearly remember pulling into the driveway and being blown away by the tropical palm trees lining the winding drive before pulling up at the stunning residence. From that moment on, my breath was taken away and my fiancé was equally in love!

Our wedding day was so much more than we could have ever imagined! The excitement was unreal as I got ready in the Jaipur suite with my best friends enjoying bubbles. Despite the rain, my guests were enamoured with the beauty of Villa Rustica and they were still to see the best parts!

There wasn’t a dry eye in sight when we shared our vows in an intimate ceremony in the Pavillion surrounded by our closest friends. My heart was so full and the day was just beginning! Our photographer, Steve from Glass Slipper Photography, captured the magic of these moments, and I can’t stop myself looking at the photos. I feel truly blessed to have been able to celebrate in such an enchanted venue with such an incredibly talented photographer. These are memories I will cherish forever more.

After the ceremony, we celebrated a relaxing long lunch in the Pavillion. Although our family were unfortunately unable to be present, we were surrounded by those who mean a lot to us and we could not have dreamed of a better way to celebrate our special day! To put it simply, our wedding at Villa Rustica was the best day of our lives!

I cannot find the words to express how grateful I am! So thank you to Jane, Greg, Tristan, Roger & Raffa for the chance to share the magic of your home!
