Jarrod and Felicity’s wedding loomed large in this year’s calendar at Villa Rustica. The couple had visited last winter and fallen in love with the villa’s dreamy ambience. At the end of their stay, they chatted to us about the possibility of holding an intimate wedding here.

Felicity comes from a styling background and oozes creative flair! It was only natural that she would want to add her touch to the Pavilion – the space that doubles as the ceremony and reception area. Setting aside the day before their wedding to decorate the Pavilion, the couple “made it their own” by creating a setting that reflected their love of nature and travel. Felicity used simple styling details like delicate strands of garden foliage placed in vintage glass bottles, eclectic Persian rugs to delineate the ceremony area and dark timber décor to contrast with the stone walls.

The couple wanted their guests to feel as though they had arrived at an exotic destination. As family and friends wandered into the Moroccan courtyard, they caught their first glimpse of the villa’s dramatic stone façade and its swimming pool with floating florals. On entering the ornately decorated Pavilion, they were warmly welcomed by waiters offering signature cocktails.

Felicity’s striking gown was designed and created by her beautiful mum, Sandy. The bride made a breathtaking entrance as each parent accompanied her around the pool to the tune of Billy Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”.

Shelley from Ivy Road Photography captured each moment of the relaxed and intimate ceremony. Shelley remembers special moments like when the bride and groom were preparing in adjoining rooms. “A sense of excitement grew with each knowing the other was so close – yet they didn’t see each other until Felicity made her reveal around the pool to Jarrod.”

After the ceremony, the guests mingled in the Moroccan courtyard with champagne and a gorgeous antipasto platter before heading to nearby Harvest Restaurant where festivities continued into the night.
